Wilmington Art Loop 2019 Continues, Friday, February 1
January 31, 2019
Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki, City Cultural Affairs Director Tina Betz, and Jerry DuPhily of Out & About Magazine invite City residents and citizens around the region to Art Loop Wilmington, Friday, February 1. The popular FREE art exhibition, now in its 31st year, is a partnership between the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs and Out & About.
The Wilmington Art Loop is a self-guided exhibition of visual art displayed at galleries, studios, museums and alternative spaces in and around Wilmington, including the Louis L. Redding Gallery in the City-County Building, which was rededicated in December. The FREE event draws local and regional art lovers to the Downtown District and greater Wilmington area on the first Friday of the month with the exception of Independence Day Weekend in July, when the Art Loop will take place on July 12.
Some venues offer opportunities to meet the featured artists while patrons enjoy refreshments, and, in some cases, live entertainment is scheduled. Out & About has teamed up with Breakthru Beverage to present complimentary beer, wine or spirit tastings at three Loop venues that rotate each month.
Eighteen venues will be participating in Art Loop Wilmington on Friday, February 1, beginning at 5 p.m. The offerings in February include Swing Dance at The Grand Opera House’s Studio One, located at 818 North Market Street. Peter Ennis of Take the Lead Dance Studio in Hockessin will provide dance instruction beginning at 8:00 p.m. Social Dancing with DJ Christian Muniz will follow at 9:00 p.m. Admission is $5 at the door and a cash bar is available. More information about Swing Dance at the Grand can be found at https://www.thegrandwilmington.org/grand-baile.
Art Loop Wilmington’s website – a hand-held guide to the Loop that is easily navigable by gallery location, artist or type of venue – is now more mobile friendly and features the monthly lineup at least two weeks prior to the start of each Art Loop. The site can be accessed atwww.artloopwilmington.org. The March Art Loop will take place on Friday, March 1.
