City Council Announces Names of At-Large Qualified Candidates

Nineteen (19) candidates have qualified to fill the seat as verified by the Department of Elections.
Wilmington – On January 6, 2022, City Council Member At-Large Rysheema Dixon announced her resignation from Wilmington City Council, and pursuant to the City Charter, the current City Council was tasked with filling the vacancy and started accepting letters of interest and resumes from residents interested in filling the vacancy.
On January 20, 2022, the city council passed a resolution that accepted the resignation of Council Member Rysheema J. Dixon and moved forward with filling the vacancy.
On February 7, 2022, the application period closed and the following nineteen (19) candidates have qualified to fill the seat as verified by the Department of Elections.

The Committee of the Whole of Wilmington City Council will be reviewing the letters of interest from each qualified resident seeking to fill the seat, interview each candidate, and recommend a candidate to fill the council vacancy following the procedure outlined in the City Charter section 2-34.
The Committee of the Whole meeting to review the credentials of each applicant and to interview them has been scheduled for Wednesday, February 23, and Thursday, February 24, 2022.
