Wilmington’s Homeowner Repair Lottery Registration
 Opens on Friday

Income-eligible homeowners could receive repairs totaling up to $10,000; lottery winners will be selected on December 20

Wilmington Mayor Mike Purzycki said registration for a City lottery, which will be held next month to select homeowners to receive home repairs totaling up to $10,000, will open at 9:00 a.m. on Friday, December 1. City homeowners who would like to enter their name and property address in the lottery should call the City’s 311 Customer Service Center starting on Friday morning at 7:30 through December 15 at 7:30 in the evening. Callers can call at any point during that time frame and have the same chance of being selected in the lottery. Anyone who calls 311 prior to Friday morning at 7:30 a.m. will not be registered and will be asked to call back.

There is an income eligibility limit for Wilmington’s Homeowner Repair Program, which is intended to ensure that funding is available to those who need it most. The income chart is presented below. The lottery process is being used to give all of those who register an equal opportunity to be selected on December 20.

Funding for this program totals approximately $1.7 million. Up to $10,000 in repairs is available to each income-eligible applicant for a variety of home repairs that may include:

•roof repair/replacement

•HVAC repair/replacement

•Weatherization

•window/door replacement

•electric or lighting repairs

•plumbing

•masonry repairs

•structural/safety repairs

•railing and safety issues

•handicapped accessibility

•and exterior painting, among others.

The City estimates that approximately 170 homeowners will be served through this program. Approximately 85 homeowners will be selected during the December 20 lottery, with repairs expected to begin during the first few months of the new year.
