December 18, 2023
WILMINGTON – Dec. 16 – In a Saturday night matchup at Chase Fieldhouse, the Delaware Blue Coats succumbed to the Long Island Nets with a final score of 125-117.
The pivotal factor in the game was the Nets’ superior three-point shooting, boasting a 58-percent accuracy compared to the Blue Coats’ 39-percent. Head coach Mike Longabardi acknowledged the Nets’ exceptional performance: “They shot well. That is not usually a 58-percent shooting team. Some of them we got to guard better. But you have to play the percentages. Tonight did not work out in our favor.”
Ricky Council led the scoring for the Blue Coats with an impressive 32 points, while Javonte Smart contributed 26 points, surpassing the 20-point mark. Darius Bazley secured a double-double with 19 points and 10 rebounds. Despite these individual efforts, the team fell short.
The Long Island Nets, on the other hand, saw a standout performance from Armani Brooks, who scored 22 points and had a perfect 5-5 record from beyond the arc. Kennedy Chandler (25), Keon Johnson (22), and Noah Clowney (15) also played crucial roles, each contributing at least 15 points to secure the victory.
