Wilmington Addresses Taste and Odor Issues with City Drinking Water

The City of Wilmington’s Water Division, now known as Wilmington Water, is addressing temporary, seasonal taste and odor issues in the city’s drinking water. Recent weather conditions have promoted algal growth in the source water, causing an earthy taste and smell. While the water remains safe for consumption, some aesthetic issues persist despite treatment. Wilmington Water is implementing additional measures and exploring long-term solutions to mitigate these concerns. Residents can reduce the taste and odor by refrigerating water overnight.
