February 22, 2022
Wilmington, DE: Today, Spending Black Matters, a Facebook community managed by Wilmington-based marketing company Influencers Lab Media LLC, officially announces The Spending Black Matters Marketplace. After exponential growth throughout the pandemic to over 30,000 members in its Facebook group, Spending Black Matters seeks to take its online community offline with its first in-person pop-up shop. This also coincides with the launch of the spendingblackmatters.com website.
The group started as a social experiment and has grown to serve as an essential platform for many local black businesses to gain customer support, exposure, and help grow an online following. “As we learn to navigate life with Covid-19, we feel it’s time to get back to face-to-face business. Black Businesses need an audience and a community of people to offer its products and services to,” states Spending Black Matters co-founder Newdy Felton.
Spending Black Matters is a Facebook group that started in the summer of 2020, during the worldwide coronavirus pandemic. The group’s growth to over 20,000 members in the first three months indicated how much-untapped support there is for Black-owned businesses. “I honestly felt people were starting brand new companies just to take advantage of the overwhelming support businesses were getting in the group,” says one of the group’s moderators.
