Mayor Purzycki invites you to mark your calendars for the City’s Earth & Arbor Day Celebration on Friday, April 19, followed by the Annual Community Clean-Up Day on Saturday, April 20.
The Public Works Department of Wilmington will host a free event at the Cool Spring Reservoir Plaza for Earth & Arbor Day. Neighborhoods, churches, and businesses are encouraged to register for the Citywide Clean-Up on April 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
The Earth & Arbor Day celebration, themed “Planet VS. Plastics,” will take place at Cool Spring Reservoir Plaza, 11th and Franklin streets, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on April 19. This free event is open to all and will feature music by “DJ Tim Dogg,” an Earth Day original rap song performed by Cultural Restoration Project, Inc., and 4th-grade students from Kuumba Academy Charter School, along with more than two dozen partners and vendors.
Mayor Purzycki emphasized the importance of participation in Wilmington’s annual Community Clean-Up Day, scheduled for April 20 from 8:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. This initiative, part of Wilmington’s Beautiful City campaign, aims to maintain cleanliness and attractiveness throughout the city.
Residents, community groups, and businesses are encouraged to register online or email communitycleanupday@WilmingtonDE.gov by April 15 to join the clean-up efforts. The City’s Constituent Services Office will provide necessary items such as trash bags, gloves, and trash pickers.
With the hashtag #BeautifulWilmDE, participants are encouraged to share their before and after photos on social media platforms and tag a friend to spread the word. Let’s make Wilmington cleaner and more beautiful together!
