Delaware Blue Coats defeated Lakeland Magic 101-96

PHILADELPHIA – The Delaware Blue Coats (10-13), the NBA G League affiliate of the Philadelphia 76ers, defeated the Lakeland Magic (12-10), 101-96, on Wednesday night at The Center in Philadelphia. The team has now won three straight games.
Rashad Vaughn posted a team-high 18 points (6-10 FG, 4-5 3FG, 2-2 FT) in 26 minutes off the bench for the Blue Coats. Jared Brownridge finished with 17 points (5-14 FG, 4-9 3FG, 3-4 FT) in 28 minutes, while Cory Jefferson added 13 points and six rebounds in 26 minutes.
The Blue Coats outscored the Magic 31-13 in the second quarter to take a 49-38 lead into the locker room, but the visitors cut their deficit to just one point heading into the fourth quarter.
“This was our first back-to-back where we’ve played two games that we can sort of be proud of,” said head coach Connor Johnson. “Once we got going, our defense carried us and we made some timely shots at the end. I’m proud of the way that we competed and came out tonight.”
Philadelphia native Amile Jefferson led all scorers with 22 points (10-18 FG, 2-2 FT) to go along with nine rebounds in 34 minutes for Lakeland. Melvin Frazier Jr., on assignment from the Orlando Magic, recorded 21 points (10-16 FG, 1-1 3FG) and eight rebounds in 33 minutes of action. BJ Johnson, also a Philadelphia native, added 14 points in a game-high 37 minutes for the Magic.
