December 9, 2024

BlueCoats Extend Winning Streak with Strong Team Performance Against Go-Go

Wilmington – Dec. 8, 2024 – The Delaware Blue Coats (6-6) electrified the Chase Fieldhouse on Sunday night, securing their fourth consecutive win in a gritty 101-93 showdown against the Capital City Go-Go (8-4). Led by standout performances from Jeff Dowtin Jr. and rookie sensation Justin Edwards, the Blue Coats are hitting their stride after a challenging start to the season.

“We’re just trying to get better each and every game,” said head coach Mike Longabardi. “It’s great to come back and put it together because I didn’t think we played our best game, but we found a way to win.”

The matchup was a defensive slugfest, with neither team able to pull ahead by more than seven points through three and a half quarters. The tension broke when Edwards buried his fourth three-pointer of the night, giving Delaware an eight-point cushion with just under seven minutes to play.

Capital City’s Jaylen Nowell, fresh off his debut performance, refused to go quietly, dropping a game-high 26 points. Despite the Go-Go’s late push, the Blue Coats sealed the deal by scoring on five of their final six possessions.

Dowtin Jr. paced the Blue Coats with 20 points, while Edwards, the No. 3 pick in the 2024 G League Draft, added 19 and showcased his clutch shooting. Darius Bazley recorded a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and rookie Judah Mintz provided a spark off the bench with 16 points. Isaiah Mobley dominated the glass with 11 rebounds.

The Go-Go’s supporting cast chipped in as Mouhamadou Gueye (11), Michael Foster Jr. (10), and Erik Stevenson (10) all hit double figures. Jalen McDaniels also notched a season-high 11 rebounds.

The two teams will clash again Monday night at Chase Fieldhouse, with tip-off set for 7:00 p.m.
